Abstract

Background: Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist that provides sedation, analgesia, and sympatholysis without causing significant respiratory depression. It has gained increasing attention in anesthetic practice due to its opioid-sparing effect and its role in improving postoperative pain control. In laparoscopic cholecystectomy, where postoperative pain and hemodynamic fluctuations are common, the use of intravenous dexmedetomidine may enhance analgesic outcomes and stabilize intraoperative hemodynamics.
